9 July – Resolving disputes with SARS
Many taxpayers and tax professionals have reported on an increase in SARS audit and verification activity in the recent weeks. It seems that SARS is following a somewhat aggressive approach to increase its collections. In this session, we will focus on the way in which a taxpayer should manage his or her communication with SARS and best practices in handling disputes. We will be answering questions relating to the practical difficulties experienced when attempting to resolve disputes with SARS.

Business entities, trusts and individuals may wonder about the most effective way of managing the risks associated with provisional tax. 3 September – Managing SARS penalties
Most taxpayers know what should be done in order to be tax compliant. However, deliberate or negligent actions by the taxpayer, or SARS’ interpretation of a matter (whether correct or incorrect), could lead to the imposition of penalties by SARS. In this practical application session, we will discuss how to deal with penalties imposed by SARS under various circumstances, and we will answer questions relating to managing SARS penalties.
1 October – Tax aspects of company formations and restructuring
Businesses have the opportunity to transact with each other and transfer assets in a tax neutral manner. In this session, we will discuss strategies relating to company formations and restructuring in order to minimise the resultant tax consequences for all parties involved. We will be answering your questions relating to the practical difficulties experienced and we will discuss best practice to follow in company formations and restructuring transactions.
5 November – Essentials of international tax
The world is becoming smaller as millions of businesses from around the globe transact with each other on a daily basis. There are some risks associated with this (such as transfer pricing) and there are also some benefits related to this (such as reduced tax via double tax agreements). In this session, we will be answering questions relating to the practical difficulties experienced and questions regarding international tax.
